Have you thought about what you are going to do with your used office furniture? Some of the tips below will save you money and others will free up space immediately in your workplace. Whether you want to design a unique office on a budget or looking for just one executive chair, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Can Your Used Office Furniture be Used Again?

Reuse old Furniture
Before you get rid of your old office furniture, think if it can be used in the future if it is in decent condition. Maybe your company is looking to hire more people and you need more chairs or desks. Think about those possibilities and talk to your managers before you get rid of anything.

Create an inventory of the furniture that you are looking to keep and are looking to sell. Note the condition of the pieces you want to sell in a spreadsheet. This will help when it comes time to evaluate what the worth of your furniture piece will be, rather than guessing.

Can It Be Recycled?

Recycle old furniture
Know whether or not the materials within your furniture can be salvaged or recycled. If any of the pieces are made of mostly wood, laminate, or even particleboard, then it cannot be recycled. However, if any of the furniture has several metal components, those can be recycled.

Can It Be Donated?

Donate old furniture
This is a good option if you are trying to get rid of the furniture in a hurry. Not only will you be cleaning out your office but you’ll be performing a good deed as well. You can also write off furniture donations each year in your taxes. Ask for an itemized receipt for each donation you make, so that way you have proof.

Can It Be Refurbished?

For all of the DIY people out there, bringing new life to an old piece of furniture can be fun and even inexpensive. Just adding a fresh coat of paint or reupholstering a chair cushion can make it look like new.
